Slight Decline in November Unemployment
State unemployment in November fell slightly. The seasonally adjusted rate was 6.7 percent, one tenth of a percent less than in October. About 2 thousand more people had work compared to the previous month, but compared to November a year ago, there are nearly 20 thousand more people without jobs.
The overall jobs picture remains murky. A separate survey of non-farm employment found that the number of jobs actually fell by about 1500 in November. Large gains in the business services sector (1600) were offset by larger losses in the retail (1,200), leisure and hospitality sectors (1,200)
