Film festivals are gaining in popularity, including here in New England. On this show we’ve previewed two recent ones – Telluride by the Sea in Portsmouth, and the Somewhat North Of Boston festival in Concord. There’s another one this Saturday at Red River Theatre in Concord, and it’s probably unlike any you’ve been to before.
It’s the second annual Short Short Story Film Festival. And as the name implies, the films are really short – five minutes or less, and all of which tell a story. There are more than thirty films in all, and come from as far away as Australia and Russia, including a few entries from New England-area filmmakers.
The genres range from animated comedies to documentaries to science-fiction thrillers and more. The first program features more family-friendly fare called Heartstrings, and the second features edgier or more adult fare called Headtrip. Here to give us a short preview is the festival’s organizer, Toni Pennacchia, director of MergingArts Productions and host of Spoiler Alert Radio.
